What Happens to Transparency?
JPG doesn’t support transparent pixels. When you convert a PNG, WEBP, or SVG that has a transparent background, this tool fills that area with the background color you choose (white by default) before saving as JPG — so your image never turns out with unexpected black areas, which is what happens if transparency isn’t handled properly.
How JPG Quality Affects File Size
JPG uses “lossy” compression — lower quality settings produce smaller files by discarding some image detail. For most web use, 80-90% quality is a good balance between visual quality and file size. Drop below 70% only if file size is the top priority, such as for large batches of thumbnail images.
